Cannot start application installer

I am trying to install the Brother MFC-7860DW Wireless printer software into my Windows 8 Notebook.

I get a error code: Cannot start application installer

What can I do to correct this error, and install the software?

Is the issue specific to driver software?

This issue may occur either due to corrupt or missing Windows files.

I would suggest you to run this Microsoft fixit and check.

Please also run system file checker(SFC) and see if it helps.

Based on your information, I have tried the steps you have provided but we did not see the option to go to store from settings. To understand the issue better, it would be best if you include a screenshot in your post.

Meanwhile, If you are logged-in using Microsoft account let’s try the below methods and check if this helps. Follow the below methods.

Method 1.

I would recommend you to run app troubleshooter and check if it helps. Follow the below link to run app troubleshooter.

If the issue still persist, try the below method.

Method 2.

I would suggest you reset the Windows app store and check if it helps.

Type «Run» on the search bar and press Enter.

Now type: «WSReset.exe» and hit enter to reset the Windows apps store.

My app store wont open either. When I hit the app store button the shopping bag icon flashes on the screen for a second then disappears.

If i try the WSReset.exe I get the error message THE APPLICATION CANNOT BE STARTED. TRY REINSTALLING THE APPLICATION TO FIX THE PROBLEM.

In fact after further exploration, no app will open, it tells me to go to the app store THIS APP CANT OPEN. CHECK THE WINDOWS STORE FOR MORE INFO ABOUT_______.

Nope this does not work either

There is an IO error due to the folder having Trusted Installer rights, and the Admin user you are using to run Powershell does not have write permission to this folder. So this Powershell script might have worked int he past but does not work now

A pop up saying «Cannot Start Application» keeps constantly popping up every 10 seconds. I have no idea where its coming from, what program or anything.

If someone could please help as I cant do anything on my computer with this popping up.
